A message from Chief Officer Ward Clapham.

I am privileged to lead the officers and civilian staff that make up the Transit Police Service, Canada’s first and only police service dedicated to protecting the safety and security of passengers and property of a public transit system.

Although the Transit Police is a young organization, we are already recognized for the experience of our officers, the quality of our police work, our innovative crime reduction strategies, and the strong relationships we are developing in the communities we serve.   We are also a police service that exemplifies the meaning of partnerships, working closely and effectively with TransLink and its operating companies, law enforcement agencies, the Province of British Columbia and a host of communities in the Metro Vancouver area.

Policing today is increasingly complex and challenging, and requires well trained and equipped professionals, both police and civilian. As Chief Officer, I enjoy working with all staff to demonstrate that the Transit Police Service is a progressive, proactive and highly competent community policing service.

Through the “feet on the ground” nature of our Service, we are meeting with the public every day and we are given a unique opportunity to help build a strong sense of community through transit.

I encourage you to interact with and seek assistance from our Transit Police.  Your safety and security is our priority.

Please contact me directly by email (contactchief@transitpolice.bc.ca) or telephone (604-515-8300) should you have any questions or concerns that I can personally help you with.
